Opened last Summer in Mirabilandia park in Italy, Reset: Anno Zero is a Dark Ride, featuring interactivity between the players and scenery. It is based on the latest technological advances of the CinemAction /M range, developed by Alterface.

The ride offers post-apocalyptic New York scenery. Players move around aboard track-based carts to search for, discover and if possible destroy the causes of the devastation found up on the surface. The adventure’s scenario calls for visitors to analyze various different targets scattered along the route by accurately aiming their scientific-investigation laser device.

At Mirabilandia, targets are marked by different color LEDs scattered among the scenery or are displayed in virtual images generated on interactive screens. Each LED color represents an element to analyze with the laser, elements that award more or fewer points. Other targets are generated on giant screens showing images that are integrated into the scenery. These images, in HD or better quality, are rendered interactive by the Salto™ software developed by Alterface.

If players hit their target, the image is changed accordingly. Cameras placed opposite all the targets record the laser beams and help to award the points. When hit, some targets can also trigger special effects. For example, one target gets the laboratory pool boiling, another triggers powerful wind breezes, and a third confuses other players by setting off surprising light effects, and so on.

A control screen allows players to see their score in real time. At the route’s end, everyone can get a copy of their photo, taken in the heat of the action, with their score embedded in the image.

Mirabilandia park even recently launched a competition on its website dedicated to Reset: Anno Zero. Players with the highest score won a trip to New York.
