A unique mix of Gaulish mischief and British eccentricity, in the recently announced Londinium expansion.
Parc Astérix has announced a major new expansion opening in 2028: Londinium, a whole new themed area inspired by the classic comic Asterix in Britain. Among its new attractions will be an interactive dark ride designed by Alterface, experts in crafting intuitive and joyful interactive experiences for the whole family.
From the start, Parc Astérix had a very clear vision: an attraction that would be first and foremost fun, simple, and accessible to all audiences, starting from children aged 4 years. The experience had to be lighthearted and non-violent, capturing the unmistakable humor and spirit of the Asterix universe, with its unique wordplay and anachronisms, while also incorporating playful references to British culture. It also needed to deliver a fast, smooth, high-capacity interactive experience.
That is exactly where Alterface came in. With decades of expertise in interactive design, gameplay dynamics, and guest behaviour, the Belgian company was the natural choice to bring this vision to life. Alterface’s approach to interactivity, intuitive, responsive, and seamlessly integrated into the ride, ensures that visitors can dive straight into the fun without needing explanations.

The attraction will feature six interactive scenes where guests use their “magic potion gourds” to compete in a series of playful, carnival-style challenges inspired by Gaulish mischief and British eccentricity. The ride adopts a joyful, chaotic, and energetic tone, playing with British stereotypes to create gags and anachronisms characteristic of the comic book.
“We’re thrilled to collaborate with Parc Astérix on such an iconic IP,” says Laurence Beckers, Creative Director at Alterface. “You have to realize that in Belgium, the comic book universe is a cultural institution. It is part of our heritage. We fell into it when we were little, just as Obélix fell into the cauldron of potion. Working for this license is an incredible opportunity for us!”
The gameplay is progressive. The ride begins with more static scenes for easy handling, then gradually adds layers of depth with games of skill and reflexes, maintaining suspense until the final minute. The competitive scoring system, with visible scores, hidden bonuses, and scenes offering multiple levels of discovery, is designed to encourage repeat rides and give guests the chance to beat their own records.
What makes this attraction truly unique is the meeting of three rich universes: the humor of Astérix, the colorful and festive spirit of a funfair, and the unmistakable charm of London with its delightfully phlegmatic Britons.
